March 2022

It was a cold and snowy few months here in Michigan. March is proving to warm up and some of the sluggish winter fish have now turned on to the feed. The upper Clinton fished slow for us this season and we are looking forward to the annual Trout Opener the last Saturday of April. Hopeful that many of you have gotten out this winter to wet a line! We. are now booking for spring and summer Guide Trips and the best times are still open! For you trout fisherman that enjoy nymphing, remember to go light on tackle and many times smaller nymphs work better locally. The past rains colored up our local Clinton River system and a few pods made the journey upstream after the heavy rain. Our steelhead peak is about mid April with some ‘drop backs’ being caught well into May. Also. remember that spawning temps at 40 to 45 degrees are coming and as we warm up the stream temps warm as well promoting a stronger bite out there. Finally, we have taken a break from Production Fly-Tying but still tying for local and destination Float Trips! Enjoy the upcoming spring season and Fish On!
