I booked with Kip at Woodland Rivers for our first time EVER fly fishing! He set us up with an amazing guide, Pat, and we were fly fishing in no time! What a rush!!! I must admit, I was nervous at first, but Kip spent a lot of time preparing us for what to expect and making sure that we had all necessary supplies. I could hear the passion for fishing and kindness in his voice. You won’t be disappointed!

I would certainly recommend Woodland Rivers for a guide service in Southeast Michigan. The local trout waters such as Paint Creek can be really tough and it helps to have the knowledge and guidance of a local expert such as Kip. Besides being super knowledgeable about the waters, Kip was just plain fun to fish with. You can tell he really cares just as much as you do which is really nice in a guide. Kip offered to take us out a second time due to poor conditions for our first outing where we ended up being successful. You can’t go wrong with Woodland Rivers!

Over the last few years Kip has tied many flies for me. They have always been good looking, timely and they catch fish. The one time we got our wires crossed on an order he went above and beyond to make it right even though it may have been my fault. Kip is great to work with. I’ve bought many fly’s, and booked several trips through him. You can’t go wrong with Woodland Rivers because Kip loves what he does and it’s important to him that each of his clients has their best experience. I’ve been on guided trips with both Path and Muddy and they were both great. Muddy spent plenty of time with my wife ensuring she enjoyed her time even though I had to persuade her into going with me on the trip. We caught plenty of fish and lunch was excellent. Pat is a master. I learned a ton about Steelhead, birds anything outdoors from Pat on our trip.  You can’t go wrong with either one for a full day float trip for Salmon or Steelhead.

His knowledge of fly fishing was extensive and he truly enjoys sharing it with others. He is patient and kind. Willing to assist in any way he can I would definitely recommend giving him a try if your interested in learning as well as catching some fish.

Kip knows his waters and knows other guides that are just as knowledgeable. When the fishing conditions are tough he has still been able to put me on fish, when conditions were good he put me and my nephew, who was a total beginner to fly fishing, on a lot of fish. Kip guided my friend , Michelle, and she caught fish and had a great time. We had fun learning and catching fish. What could be better? I’ve also taken fly tying lessons from Kip and he has definitely made me a better tier and helped me tie flies i didn’t think I could ever do.

Kip taught me and my son so much. He is very patient and we are beginners. Kip is very knowledgeable and is an excellent guide. You will have a great experience if you book with Kip!

I connected with Kip for a casting clinic which was extremely helpful and a half day guide trip on the Paint Creek. He’s skills and knowledge helped me catch my first fish on a fly. I definitely recommend Kip and Woodland Rivers.

Kip was more than accommodating with our fly fishing trip! He called and made sure the water/temperature levels were in good condition for us to fly fish in. We had a fun experience learning something new and would recommend him to others in the metro Detroit area looking for a new skill!
