November/December 2021

Well folks, it was a relatively warm fall with a few good rains that got the river up and nicely stained. With the new construction at Avon and Dequindre it has deterred many anglers as well as possible fish to make it up through the park stretch. The fishing in Auburn Hills has picked up again with nymphing and streamer fishing being the staple of successful methods. For the swing community, a few fish were caught back in November on swing or spey flies. The colder air has pushed in for December and the New Year not far off! For winter fishing remember to approach holding water quietly and move around a bit to cover potential good fishing grounds. Stay active out there on your favorite waters and always dress for the occasion and for the winter elements. Also, when pursuing winter trout and steelhead remember that light tippets can produce many strikes and you may play or finesse your fish a bit. When the water temp drops below 40 degrees it’s often the smaller patterns that take good fish such as eggs and stoneflies. As for up North opportunities, it’s. been hit or miss with a recent week or two stretch of good fishing! Have a safe and Healthy Christmas and New Year!
